Doctoral research at MINATEC

Would you like to complete your PhD thesis at one of the world’s leading technological facilities and spend three years experiencing the French Alps’ uncommon quality of life? You can do all of this, and more, by joining one of MINATEC’s research teams and enrolling in one of the region’s many doctoral programs. In 2019-2020, 105 PhD students attended IRIG and 235 PhD students performed research at Leti.

Foreign students coming to MINATEC can benefit from our special orientation program to help them get settled in the area. A list of PhD research being carried out in the current school year is available here.

The Junior Scientist and Industry annual meeting (JSIam) has been held every year (in February or March) since 2009. Open to PhDs and post-docs on the GIANT campus, the day-long event provides a unique opportunity for junior scientists to:

  • Network with professionals from industrial companies ;
  • Learn more about potential career opportunities ;
  • Discover the world of industrial companies, consulting firms, and startups.

For the junior scientists participating in the event the goal is to get their profile out there and expand their professional network. Industrial companies that sign up can take advantage of the day to recruit new talents and get the latest news on the kinds of research happening at GIANT labs.

This year, the twelfth edition of the event, held at Maison MINATEC, attracted 150 junior scientists and GIANT partners CEA, CNRS, EMBL, GEM, ILL, Grenoble Institute of Technology, and Grenoble-Alpes University.
